Malcolm B. Gunn | Malcolm B. Gunn was born February 28, 1893 in Burlington County, New Jersey. His family lived at 621 Delaware Avenue in Delanco. Malcolm married Margaret VanSciver of Beverly in February 1918. He joined the US Army as an aviator and was assigned to the 27th Aero Squadron. He departed for France on the USS Olympia on February 26, 1918. He attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Malcolm died July 16, 1918 when his Nieuport 28 biplane aircraft was shot down during an operation near the town of Vauxbuin, near Chateau Thierry, France behind German lines. He was 25 years old. Neither his body nor his aircraft were recovered. Both the US Government and his widow, Margaret Gunn searched for his remains for over a year without success. He is remembered at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial in Belleau, Departement de l'Aisne, Picardie, France.
